At Nirvana Recovery, we assess adults for alcohol treatment at our Phoenix residential and outpatient facilities. Care can address alcohol use alongside mental health needs, with individual counseling, group support and medication evaluation when appropriate. Our team helps you understand which level of care fits your needs and whether an independent medical detox assessment should come first.

Medication needs are assessed by a licensed prescriber. Nirvana prescribes medications on-site as needed for mental-health and substance use conditions. Psychiatric visits occur on-site 2–3 times weekly, with an on-call MD and an MD medical director available.
Nirvana does not provide on-site medical detox or withdrawal management. If those services or medical clearance are needed, Admissions can help coordinate an external referral to an independent provider. That provider makes its own clinical and admission decisions.
Our adult alcohol treatment programs are based in Phoenix. Following assessment and any required external detoxification or medical clearance, our team can determine whether residential treatment, PHP, IOP or outpatient care fits your needs. Patients who need inpatient hospital-level care require a higher level of care.
Residential treatment provides care while you live at our Phoenix facility. PHP meets five days a week, 9 a.m.–5 p.m., including an hour of breaks and lunch on-site. You need a safe place to stay outside program hours. IOP meets five days a week for three hours, usually 9 a.m.–noon or 6–9 p.m. Telehealth and hybrid IOP options are also available when clinically appropriate. Standard outpatient care may suit people who need less support.
Tell the assessment team about anxiety, depression, trauma symptoms, sleep, other substance use and prescribed medications. Our residential, PHP and IOP paths can address primary mental health needs as well as substance use and dual diagnosis. A licensed prescriber evaluates medication needs. Treatment length and the next level of care depend on your assessment and progress, rather than a guaranteed 30-day course.
Nirvana does not provide on-site medical detox or withdrawal management. Read our detox assessment and referral guide to discuss an independent withdrawal-care provider and a safe transition into ongoing treatment. Alcohol withdrawal can be dangerous. Seek urgent medical help for severe symptoms, and call 911 for a medical emergency.
Before admission, confirm the correct Phoenix treatment address, your benefits and expected costs, transportation, medication records and your first follow-up appointment. We are in-network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield and Cigna. Coverage, authorization and personal costs depend on the specific plan; verification does not guarantee admission or payment. Nirvana does not accept AHCCCS or Medicare.
For local alternatives, use SAMHSA FindTreatment or the AHCCCS provider directory if you need an AHCCCS care route. The Phoenix-area AA meeting finder can help you explore voluntary peer support alongside treatment. Confirm details with each independent service. Resource links checked October 12, 2026.
