Detox Assessment and Referral Support in Arizona
Detox Assessment and Referral Support
Our adult treatment facilities are in Phoenix. Nirvana does not provide on-site medical detox or withdrawal management. If recent alcohol or drug use creates withdrawal risks, an independent medical provider must assess the safest setting and manage any needed withdrawal care. Our admissions team can discuss referral coordination and whether residential, PHP, IOP or outpatient treatment may fit after any required clearance. Admission and timing remain subject to assessment and availability.
Understanding Medical Detox and Withdrawal Care
Medical detox focuses on evaluating and managing withdrawal and related medical needs when a person reduces or stops alcohol or drug use. The setting and monitoring needed depend on an individualized clinical assessment. Not everyone needs the same withdrawal-care setting, and detox alone does not replace ongoing substance use treatment.
Questions for an independent detox provider
- Can your program assess my recent substance use, prescribed medicines, medical history and mental health needs?
- What monitoring and medical staffing are available, and when would hospital care be needed?
- Who will manage medications during withdrawal and send discharge records to my next provider?
- What insurance authorization, payment arrangements and admission availability apply?
- How will I move safely from withdrawal care into ongoing treatment?
Finding withdrawal care in Phoenix or closer to home
Use SAMHSA FindTreatment to compare independent services by location and treatment needs, then confirm current offerings directly. People seeking an AHCCCS care route can use the official AHCCCS provider directory. Our separate Scottsdale detox resource guide and Tucson detox resource guide describe external options in those communities. These services are independently operated; a listing does not establish a Nirvana affiliation or guarantee admission.
Safety and the next treatment appointment
NIAAA explains that alcohol withdrawal can be life-threatening. Seek medical advice before stopping alcohol when withdrawal may be a concern. Call 911 for a medical emergency. For a mental health or suicide crisis, call or text 988. Nirvana’s admissions number is for treatment inquiries, rather than emergency response.
Before transfer, confirm medical clearance requirements, transport, medication records, the correct treatment address and follow-up appointments. Our residential, PHP and IOP paths depend on clinical fit. We are in-network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield and Cigna; verify the specific benefits and expected costs. Nirvana does not accept AHCCCS or Medicare. Resource links checked October 12, 2026.
We do not provide onsite detox. If withdrawal risks or medical needs make detoxification necessary before treatment, our admissions team can help identify an appropriate independent provider and coordinate the next step.

Thank you for helping me get my life back!Posted on Lyle ScritsmierTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Our son attended both residential and intensive outpatient programs. We were pleased with the services provided and with the substantial progress our son made during his stay. Nirvana has a committed staff and went to step beyond on several occasions. We particularly appreciated the assistance provided during the discharge process , including the next steps in guidance on potential providers. In particular , one of their counselors, Josh, was particularly helpful during the entire stay. He was available, kept us updated on our son's progress, discussed options, answered our questions, and was patient with us. Post discharge Josh continued to be available and is a great support to us. He truly cared about our son.Posted on Nicollette RomeroTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Nirvana has helped me so much with my alcohol addiction. Joshua is apart of Nirvana staff and has made such a difference in my life and my recovery. He is the type of person that not only does his job well but goes above and beyond. He truly cares about every person that comes into this place and it shows. Personally from Day 1 for me at Nirvana he was there to pick me up and transport me to the RTC house where I first experienced what it felt like to be safe and feel like I was at home. He answered all my questions and encouraged me to feel comforted, supported, and know that I was I the right place. He became my case manager and always made sure I was heard and that what I needed assistance with, was taken care of. He has a gift that is surely being shared with every client that comes into this place. You are in good hands at Nirvana and I have nothing but good things to say about Joshua. I’m in my 20s and had been using opioids for almost a decade. I’d been in and out of rehabs, but nothing stuck. At Nirvana, the team treated me like a person, not a statistic. The combination of residential treatment and aftercare planning finally gave me the structure to stay clean. If you need help, don’t wait—call NirvanaPosted on GiGi LovesTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had such a good experience with Nirvana staff and residents. The owner, Mike, and Hope and John helped me get prior authorization because my insurance wouldn’t cover my stay. Mario was firm but genuinely cares about everyone and always asked how you were doing and checked on you! The therapist didn’t let me make excuses and my therapist worked so hard with me to identify patterns and generational trauma that has plagued my family and my life for years! I’m so grateful!
